Tristan Thompson: Will have limitations in return
Thompson will have his minutes monitored during Wednesday’s game against the Knicks, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
The Scoop: The big man hasn't played since March 14, so it was expected that he wouldn't be cleared for a full workload right away. Coach Brad Stevens said Thompson will play in "short bursts" Wednesday as he works on his conditioning following a lengthy stay in the league's health and safety protocols.

Tristan Thompson: Off injury report
Thompson (COVID-19 protocols) is off the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Knicks, Chris Grenham of Forbes Sports reports.
The Scoop: Thompson has missed the past 13 games due to protocols, but he'll finally be able to make his return Wednesday. However, there's a good chance he's permanently lost his starting job to Robert Williams.

Tristan Thompson: Out through end of week
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said that Thompson (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) will take a cardiac test Friday with the hope of gaining clearance to return to game action next week, Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston reports.
The Scoop: Ainge's comments would seem to rule Thompson out for games Friday against the Rockets and Sunday against the Hornets, but he could have an outside shot at making it back to action for an April 6 matchup with the 76ers. Whenever he returns, Thompson will have missed more than three weeks due to what was presumably a positive COVID-19 test result rather than a close contact situation. Though he'll be part of a new-look frontcourt that no longer includes Daniel Theis, Thompson won't necessarily recapture the 20-to-25-minute he had typically handled prior to missing time. Robert Williams (illness) appears to have gained some more trust from head coach Brad Stevens in recent weeks, while trade-deadline pickups Moritz Wagner and Luke Kornet provide floor-stretching options at center that the Celtics could look to keep in the rotation.

Tristan Thompson: Ruled out Wednesday
Thompson (COVID-19 protocols) will not play Wednesday against Dallas, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
The Scoop: Thompson will miss his eighth game in a row as he remains in the league's health and safety protocols. His next opportunity to return will come Friday against Houston.
