Lauri Markkanen: X-rays return negative
Markkanen had X-rays on his right ankle sprain come back negative after leaving Saturday's game against the Thunder, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The Scoop: The 24-year-old had nine points (3-4 FG, 3-4 3Pt), two rebounds and a block before going down with the injury Saturday. According to Fedor, the "sense" is Markkanen is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, which could spell a lengthy absence. However, the team has yet to officially announce the severity of the injury.

Lauri Markkanen: Sprains right ankle
Markkanen exited Saturday's game against the Thunder with a right ankle sprain and will not return, Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland reports.
The Scoop: Markkanen had to be helped off the floor by teammates, so it's no surprise that he won't be able to return. The severity of the injury and Markkanen's expected return date are not yet clear.

Lauri Markkanen: Excellent against former team
Markkanen provided 28 points (9-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, one block and one steal across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 117-104 loss to the Bulls.
The Scoop: Markkanen has been a consistent scorer for the Cavaliers this season but saved his season-high scoring output when facing his former team, as he spent the first four years of his NBA career with the Bulls. While Markkanen will probably never repeat the numbers he posted as a rookie, he's been a reliable scoring weapon for Cleveland in his first year with the franchise. He's averaging 13.3 points per game this season.

Lauri Markkanen: Pours in 20 points
Markkanen totaled 20 points (8-11 FG, 4-5 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and one block over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 111-91 win over the Jazz.
The Scoop: Although Markkanen had a down game against the Warriors, his numbers have been great in January, with averages of 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Markkanen has continued to start despite competition from Kevin Love and Cedi Osman.
