|Shake Milton: Out to begin season|
Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers said Sunday that Milton (ankle) is "nowhere near playing yet," implying that the point guard won't be ready for Wednesday's season opener in New Orleans, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
The Scoop: Rivers was unwilling to put a firm timeline on Milton's return, but based on the tone of the coach's comments, the 25-year-old can probably be ruled out for at least the entirety of the 76ers' three-game week to open the season. Meanwhile, Rivers said he's uncertain if Ben Simmons will be ready to go for Wednesday's contest while he works to regain conditioning following his holdout from training camp, so Tyrese Maxey could be in store for some extended run out of the backcourt to begin the campaign.
