| Declining option, may re-sign Okogie declined his $2.96 million player option for the 2024-25 season and enter unrestricted free agency, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. The Scoop: Evan Sidery of Forbes.com previously reported that Okogie planned to exercise his option and remain with the Suns, but Gerald Bourguet of GoPHNX.com relays the Suns want to re-sign Okogie to a slightly larger deal. Declining the player option is the first step in setting in motion a return to Phoenix on a larger deal, though Okogie will surely listen to what other offers might exist for him in free agency before putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Suns. Okogie had a reduced role for Phoenix during the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 4.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.0 minutes across 60 regular-season appearances. The 25-year-old finished the season without a spot in former head coach Frank Vogel's rotation, but Okogie could re-establish himself under new coach Mike Budenholzer if he does in fact stick around in Phoenix.
