|Ben Simmons: Won't report to training camp|
Simmons has told Sixers’ front office that he no longer wants to be with the team and that he doesn’t intend to report to training camp, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The Scoop: The Sixers began shopping Simmons for an "All-Star caliber player" after a tumultuous end to their postseason run. Now, the 2016 No. 1 overall pick has fired back and has threatened to not return to Philly for the upcoming season. League interest in Simmons remains robust, but teams have been hesitant to surrender the type of compensation that the 76ers had been hoping for. As the regular season inches closer, possible trade suitors for the 6-foot-11 point guard gain more and more leverage. The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to join a team in California, but it remains to be seen which team that is. The Timberwolves have also been heavily involved in trade talks since Simmons became available.
