|Joel Embiid: Nabs supermax extension|
Embiid and the 76ers are expected to finalize a four-year, $196 million supermax extension Tuesday, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com reports.
The Scoop: Already due $65 million on the five-year extension he signed in October 2017, Embiid will now take home $261 million through the 2026-27 season after coming to terms on the supermax deal. The 27-year-old became eligible for the supermax deal after finishing second in NBA MVP voting in 2020-21, when he averaged a career-high 28.5 points per game while posting career-best percentages from the field (51.3), free-throw line (85.9) and three-point range (37.7). Embiid sustained a meniscus tear in his knee during the playoffs, but he was able to play through the injury and didn't require offseason surgery.
