Salary Cap Information

Here are the guidelines, or ABCs, on the Salary Cap.

What is the Salary Cap?
The Salary Cap will change once during the game. Before the PAS NBA Draft, The Salary Cap will be one value, and after the Draft a new value

What is the maximum an NBA Player can make a year?
GM´s looking to sign free agents whether from another team or there own need to pay attention to the salary scale being implemented in this years GM game:

Band Level 1 (0-6 years): 12.25 million*, 14.1 million to resign*

Band Level 2 (7-9 years): 15.7 million*, 17.8 million to resign*

Band Level 3 (10+ years): 18.5 million*, 21 million to resign*

What is the minimum an NBA Player can make a year?
GM´s looking to sign free agents whether from another team or there own need to pay attention to the salary scale being implemented in this years GM game:

Band Level 1 (0-6 years): $ 395,046*

Band Level 2 (7-9 years): $ 849,250*

Band Level 3 (10+ years): $1,230,000*

What are you going to do about exceptions this year?
There are two exceptions in this years game: The mid-level exception and the basic-level. Both exceptions vary depending on the year of the game. Both exception will be given to teams with special cases.

What teams will get the exceptions?
After ´draft day´, every teams salaries will be added up. Current salaries plus drafted rookie salaries will be added to The total amount of the exception. If that total is above the new set salary cap, then that team will receive both exceptions. If that total is below the new salary cap, then that team will not receive either exception.

What happens when I propose to sign a Free Agent?
Every player in the MockGM game has a minimum number of bids or offer sheets they must receive before and agent makes a decision on the fate of his free agent. When you submit an offer sheet to an agent representing a free agent, The agent when the minimum bids are met, has a right to accept or refuse an offer. The GM has the right to accept, refuse, and withdraw its offer to a player at any given time during the free agent process if both GM and Agent have not both accepted the offer.

What is the max I can sign a Free Agent?
A team can sign its own free agents to a maximum of 7 years. A team can sign another teams free agents to a maximum of 6 years.

Can I split the Mid-Level Exception?
If a team receives the mid-level exception, they can use it on two players, at no more than a 60/40 ratio.

What if my team has overseas prospects? Can I attain their rights?
If a player your team has drafted from a previous draft has not signed with your team, the contract they will sign will be based on their band-level, should the team decide to sign the player. These players can not be signed until free agency starts, but will carry a trade value of $0 before they are signed, and will follow the free agency trading deadline for players if they are signed.

Salary Cap Rules - Comments
How come I get emails to my personal email regarding my players and I cant sign them. I should be able to match there signings. Like Mo Williams, I should be able to sign him to any contract that is offered. Or that rule dont apply

Unfortunately, you are a victim of circumstances.

You became Gm of the Bucks right before free agency and once the period started, Cleveland got a commitment from Mo Williams

re: re: Salary Cap Rules - Comments

you have to assign an agent in your league SuperAgent access... when you create a league SuperAgent is automatically assigned to the creator, but if you are a GM, you can't be SuperAgent

Hope this helps

What are the basic and mid-level exceptions ($ amount) for this year?
How do I denote a player as being one of these exceptions?

Can the exceptions be used anytime during the season?

The basic and mid-level exception values are in the "settings" section of each league. You denote a player as being one of these exceptions by signing then using one of the exceptions. Usually if you look at a players salary, you can tell that they were signed using an exception. Also exceptions can be used anytime during the season.

How does a salary cap work with bird rights?  If I have 8 million free in my salary cap but have the bird rights of a couple guys, can I sign the bird righted guys without taking a hit to my free salary for making bids on FAs?

The only thing nice about bird rights players is when you are over cap.

You can sign them to any amount, but their contract to your cap no matter what. So you want to sign them after youve signed people with your "free" cap.

I have a player that has retired on my roster. How do I remove him without incurring a salary cap penalty?

If the retired player is costing you cap them you can't remove him. He's just a pretty version of a cap slug. If he's not costing you, then he's eventually fall off

Then that means I can't sign any others players, including the free agents that are on the actual NBA team.

CanOfOil,

Your best bets to make moves is to
a. Fill the league with GMs in order to create synergy for potential trades
b. Buyout Brandon Roy - I wouldn't recommend since there will be a retirement exception for Roy

I hope that exception comes soon. I can't make any roster moves.
