Dwight Powell admitted that it’s been a strange week since J.J. Barea and the Mavericks agreed to waive the popular veteran guard. After committing to keeping, and paying, all Mavericks employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, and helping former NBA player Delonte West get back on his feet, Cuban has now given a legend of the organisation a little parting gift. The Mavericks said goodbye to J.J. Barea on Thursday, releasing the veteran guard, who has spent 11 seasons in Dallas and won a championship in 2011 with the team. The move comes after Barea, 36, had signed a one-year, $2.6m ($A3.45m) deal this off-season.
