Gradual ramp-up continues

Sun, Mar 10 2024 5:59 PST

The News
Head coach Doc Rivers said that Middleton (ankle), who is out for Sunday's game against the Clippers, logged a "great workout" Saturday and is "getting closer" to a return, Eric Nehm of The Athletic reports.

Our View
Middleton's next opportunity to take the court comes Tuesday versus Sacramento. Though Rivers' language is a continuation of vague updates on Middleton's true activity, the fact that the 32-year-old is continuing to ramp up without issue is a good sign. Jae Crowder has started 13 consecutive games in Middleton's stead, but it has been Bobby Portis who has stepped up the most of late to fill the production void. Portis is averaging 20.7 points and 10.0 rebounds across his last three games.
