Game ETLatest Player News...
Stewart is expected to move from power forward to center this season, Evan Sidery of Forbes.com reports.

The Scoop:Stewart is projected to come off the bench behind Jalen Duren while competing for playing time with Paul Reed. Stewart normally runs at the four-spot, but with Tobias Harris and Simone Fontecchio expected to play major roles with the club, Stewart will slide over to the center position. The 23-year-old played a large role in Detroit last season, during which he averaged 10.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.8 blocks across a career-high 30.9 minutes per game in 46 regular-season outings.

Healthy for training camp
Stewart (hamstring) practiced Wednesday, Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News reports.

The Scoop: Stewart enters training camp as Detroit's only big man with an NBA track record of shooting success, so a healthy start while acclimating to multiple new pieces in the surrounding lineup bodes well for the 23-year-old. Stewart appeared in only 46 regular-season games last season, the fewest of his four-year career.

Shut down for remainder of season
The Pistons announced Wednesday that Stewart (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, Keith Langlois of the Pistons' official site reports.

The Scoop: Stewart was diagnosed with a right hamstring strain after leaving Monday's loss to the Celtics early, and the Pistons, who are out of playoff contention, will shut down the big man for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign. Stewart should be able to make a full recovery and have a healthy summer. The 2020 first-round pick will be just 23 years old in May and signed a three-year, $45 million extension last July, so he figures to remain a key piece of the Pistons' rebuild. With the addition of Jalen Duren, Stewart has shifted to power forward the last two seasons, which has resulted in a drop in defensive production but an increase in three-point opportunities. He'll finish 2023-24 with averages of 10.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.5 made threes in 30.9 minutes per game across 46 appearances (45 starts).

Remains out Wednesday
Stewart (hamstring) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Pacers.

The Scoop: Stewart will miss Wednesday's contest due to a right hamstring strain he suffered against Boston. With Taj Gibson (hamstring) and Simone Fontecchio (toe) questionable, Detroit could be left very thin in frontcourt depth versus Indiana.

Won't return Monday
Stewart has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game due to right hamstring soreness, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports. He finished with five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist.

The Scoop: Taj Gibson started the second half in place of Stewart, who appeared to suffer the injury at some point late in the second quarter. The Pistons are classifying Stewart's injury as soreness, but he could be sent in for further imaging Tuesday if the team is concerned that he might be dealing with a strain. His absence for the rest of Monday's contest will leave Detroit shorthanded at forward, as Simone Fontecchio (toe) and Ausar Thompson (illness) had already been ruled out heading into the game.
