Martin signed a one-year contract with the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Scoop:Martin appeared in 16 NBA contests for the Hawks last year, averaging 1.3 points in 4.1 minutes per game. However, he thrived at the G League level, posting 18.0 points (50/37/80 shooting splits) and 9.2 rebounds in 33.9 minutes per game. Martin is a long shot to make Minnesota's Opening Night roster, but he'll likely stick around the organization on a G League deal if he's cut. Sep 27 8:43 ET - | ||||||||

Misses out on double-double Martin recorded 25 points (9-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), nine rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 99-93 Summer League win over the Timberwolves. The Scoop: Martin has led his team in scoring in back-to-back Summer League victories. The second-year guard spent most of last season in the G League but is showing out in Las Vegas. Leads game in scoring Martin tallied 21 points (8-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and a block over 25 minutes during Sunday's 98-93 victory over Denver. The Scoop: Martin led the game in scoring and was highly efficient in doing so. He appeared in 16 games for Atlanta last year but averaged just 1.3 points and 0.8 rebounds in 4.1 minutes per contest. He should remain a feature piece for the Hawks Summer League team going forward. Jul 9 9:38 ET |
Tyrese Martin: Returns with modest production Martin (thigh) managed four points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in 37 minutes during Saturday's 122-120 loss to Birmingham. The Scoop: Martin returned from a one-game absence and failed to make a significant impact. He'll finish the G League regular season averaging 18.1 points and 8.9 rebounds in 33.0 minutes per game. He was sent to the NBA club following the contest, along with Donovan Williams, and figures to operate as an emergency depth option during the final weeks of the NBA regular season, per Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network. Tyrese Martin: Sidelined due to thigh issue Martin didn't play in Thursday's 126-115 loss to Windy City due to a thigh injury. The Scoop: It's unclear how much time Martin will miss, but his absence is a huge blow to College Park. Across 29 appearances, he's averaging 18.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game.
