Overview

Do you think you have what it takes to be a real NBA GM or an NBA Agent? Are you looking for a different basketball experience? If so then welcome to Mock GM®, the first fantasy basketball experience governed by the rules of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

During the offseason play, your goal as an NBA GM is to re-tool your team for the up and coming NBA Fantasy Regular season. As an NBA Agent, your goal is to make sure your clients needs are being answered whether they are a free agent and in need of a new contract or looking to get bought out of their existing contract.

During regular season play, NBA GMs compete head-to-head in an NBA-like 18-week schedule declaring an 8-man rotation throughout the game week. NBA Agents compete for points to see who has the best set of clients.

Our job at PASPN.net is to make sure you relax and have fun. While you sit back and watch your team progress through the season, we do all the hard work of gathering statistics, computing point totals, and updating standings.

Game Play/Schedule

The offseason portion of fantasy basketball begins in July and ends in early October. The Real-time portion of fantasy basketball begins on 10/30/2012 and ends on 4/16/2013.

Sign-ups are conducted between 6/21/2012 and 10/30/2012.  Below is a the schedule for a Full Mock GM® offseason (approx: one month)

Mock GM® Timeline

The Head-to-Head competition for NBA GMs are from Tuesday thru Monday night games. The first day of head-to-head competition is 10/30/2012. Every league will have a bye week the week of 1/22/2013 in observance of the NBA All-star weekend. Head-to-Head competition will resume the week of 1/29/2013 thru 2/4/2013 games. The Playoffs will resume immediately on 2/5/2013 and will end 4/16/2013.

For NBA Agents, ratings are based on the amount of money they negotiate free agent contracts and buyouts. Points are decided by their clients performance throughout the season. Their clients MUST be in a GMs lineup in order for the Agent to receive any points. The good thing about this is that the Agent player does not have to do anything during the regular season. The bad thing is that they are relying on the GMs to make sure they put their players in their lineup.

Scoring

PASPN.net uses a version of the NBA's Efficiency Stat Points as the games fantasy point system.

( (PTS + TRB + AST + STL + BLKS) - ( (FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TOV )) * PASPN.net = FBPTS

(( (PTS + TRB + AST + STL + BLKS) - ( (FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TOV )) * PASPN.net) / G = FBPPG = Fantasy Basketball Points Per Game

The better your players perform in real-life games, the more points they earn for your Fantasy NBA team or Sports Agency.

Rotation/Lineups/Player Eligibility/D-League & Injured List

GMs - Throughout a head-to-head competition during the week, GMs will have the opportunity to declare an 8-man rotation. The 8-man rotation will consist of a Center, Power Forward, Small Forward, Shooting Guard, Point Guard, Sixth Man and two Flex players. Depending on the players position, players will be eligible for particular spots. The Sixth Man, Flex 1 and Flex 2 positions can be filled with any active player on a GMs roster as long as the player is under contract. The other positions are must be played by players who are assigned that position For instance, players who have a position of "C" are eligible for the Center position, however a player who is a "F|C" can play Center, Power Forward and Small Forward. a player who is a "G|F" can player Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward and Power Forward.

Players are eligible for slots every day up to the time the player is scheduled to play their game during that day. After tip-off, The player will not be eligible to be assigned to any slot in the 8-man rotation until their next NBA game. Two players cannot start at the same position.

GMs can have up to 12 men active on their rosters. If they have more than 12 men under contract, they must assign players to the D-League or injured list (IL List). Both player assignments allow GMs to keep extra men under contract throughout the regular season. Only certain players are eligible for the D-league. Every player is elibible for the IL List. You can assign as many eligible players (up to three(3) times each) to the D-League (DL). With regards to the IL List, up to three (3) players can be assigned to the IL List (IL) per team at one time. Players assigned to the IL List must remain on the IL list for at least 10 days before being eligible for the active roster

Agents - The beauty of being an agent is that the majority of your work is done in the offseason. During the regular season, it is up to the GMs who have your players to put your clients into their lineup in order to get points

Fair Play and Sportsmanship

Even though fantasy games are meant to be a competitive experience for all involved, it's important to us that our users not lose sight of the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship.

To this end, each Public of Private League fantasy team owner agrees that, by joining the game, they will abide by the following regulations:

  1. All league-related transactions will be executed with the intent of improving the owner's team and/or its standing within the league.
  2. No owner may drop or "dump" players from their team for any reason other than improving their own team and/or its standing within the league.
  3. No owner will engage in any action that may be deemed to be collusive (two or more owners agreeing to make moves that benefit one team, but not the other).
  4. No owner will make any roster moves (including waiver claims, trade proposals, etc.) whose sole purpose is to hamper the play of other owners.
  5. No owner will take any action whose purpose is to, in any way, interfere with fair play in a league.

While PASPN will not remove teams from leagues after they have drafted, any failure to follow all of the items listed above may result in the limitation or removal of playing privileges for the offending owner. These restrictions may include:

  1. The suspension of specific game privileges (trading, message board posting, etc.) for the remainder of the season.
  2. The suspension of ALL playing privileges for the remainder of the season.
  3. The complete deactivation and removal of the corresponding PASPN.net account.
  4. Any other action that PASPN.net, at its sole discretion, feels is necessary to restore fair play to the league.

It is the responsibility of team owners to monitor activity within their leagues. If, as an owner, you notice any suspicious or collusive activity in your league, please notify us at once so that we may investigate and take the appropriate action -– if any is deemed necessary -- against the offending team(s) and/or account(s).
