The Chicago Bulls? Gone till November (Ball Don't Lie)
The News With every season that ends, for the playoff teams at least, we felt it right to take a look ahead. TNT already has the rights to "Gone Fishin'," and because we're sure that someone, somewhere, still likes that Wyclef song, we're going with "Gone Till November." And, yes, we know the season starts in October. Today? The Chicago Bulls.
I’ve already fawned over these Chicago Bulls plenty. The team’s unrelenting approach was an inspiration this season, and though Derrick Rose disappointed by not returning to the squad after an ACL tear, and coach Tom Thibodeau disappointed by running his players into the ground early on in the season, the team still gets to go into 2013-14 with Derrick Rose and Tom Thibodeau as its cornerstones. Not a bad start.
Big moves won’t ramp up the team’s roster prior to that start, though, unless the team’s ownership becomes ridiculously averse to paying the luxury tax, and either trades Luol Deng or Carlos Boozer to another team to shed salary, or waives Boozer outright using the amnesty provision. While that might seem like needless cost-cutting, understand that the Bulls have been practicing this sort of thing for years. If that sounds cynical and self-defeating, understand that I’m a Chicago Bulls fan that just watched 94 games of the 2012-13 Chicago Bulls. Inspiration swings both ways.

Chicago Bulls Uncharacteristically Making Excuses (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | All NBA season long, the Chicago Bulls have defied the odds. Missing superstar Derrick Rose the entire time and a host of starters and key role players along the way, the team has managed to make it into the second round of the postseason. Not only did the Bulls make it this far, they did so in dramatic fashion-- defeating the Brooklyn Nets, in Brooklyn, to take a deciding Game 7 in the first round of the playoffs and shocking the Miami Heat at home in Game 1 of the second. The Bulls have become the epitome of heart and toughness. ...

Luol Deng reveals he has lost 15 pounds, was playing through a fractured thumb (Ball Don't Lie)
The News Calling the Chicago Bulls’ 2012-13 a “lost season” is no justification to sit players, deal rotation parts, or take things lighter just because Derrick Rose is recovering from a torn ACL. It’s no excuse to let Rose sit the entire year, or to pass on re-signing Omer Asik, or to run Joakim Noah into the ground. It’s no excuse for either end of the “give up”/”try real hard” spectrum, really, and shouldn’t be an excuse to rest All-Star forward Luol Deng for the rest of the playoffs.
Luol Deng should sit out the rest of the playoffs, though, because there is no reason to push him back in to pro-level competition. As Deng recovers from a major illness and botched spinal tap procedure, the team should make the adult choice here ( for once in their recent history ) and declare Deng done for the year.
In his first meeting with the press since Deng was sidelined by illness, Deng came correct at Bulls practice on Thursday in discussing the obstacles that have been in place in the days since he was hospitalized.
Chicago Bulls beat writer K.C. Johnson ( of the Chicago Tribune ) and Mike McGraw (of the Arlington Heights Daily-Herald ) relayed Deng’s discussion, via their Twitter accounts:
Deng says he's lost 15 pounds: “I tried to shoot a little bit (today) and I struggled. I couldn’t do it."

Richard Hamilton is Chicago’s forgotten man during this year’s postseason (Ball Don't Lie)
The News Take away the incredible 142 points scored in the Chicago Bulls’ triple overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets in Game 4 of their opening round series, and you have a severely lacking Bulls offense. With those numbers out of the equation, Chicago is averaging just 88.9 points per game during these playoffs, worked up mostly against a Nets team that has major issues defensively. Kirk Hinrich, signed last summer to hold down the fort while Derrick Rose recovers from ACL surgery, has been out since that Game 4 with a calf injury. Nate Robinson and Marco Belinelli, onetime end-of-the-bench guys, have had to play the hero. Daequan Cook is getting significant minutes in the second round. Chicago needs offensive help, badly.
And through it all, a shooting guard who used to routinely average over 19 points per game sits on the bench. Richard Hamilton has played just over ten minutes during this year’s postseason, and this is coming off of a regular season that saw the 2004 NBA champion start 45 out of the 50 contests he played with Chicago. After a disastrous run in the first game of Chicago’s postseason run (Hamilton turned the ball over, missed two shots, and a miscommunication with teammate Nate Robinson led to another turnover for Nate), Hamilton has been handed “Did Not Play – Coach’s Decision”-status in seven of the team’s eight subsequent games.

Joakim Noah makes an admirable argument for Derrick Rose’s decision not to play (Ball Don't Lie)
The News One of the biggest stories of the last two months of the NBA season has been Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose's decision not to play despite being medically cleared for action. At first, Rose's decision was met with understanding, but criticism has ramped up as his absence stretches longer and the Bulls continue a very surprising playoff run without him (and many other key players). There have been various arguments against Rose's decision, such as the claim that he's hurting his team's chances at a title, references to the standard set by players who have soldiered on through immense pain, and the less severe assertion that his refusal to rule himself out of the postseason is annoying and manipulative.
The Bulls, for their part, have been more than fine without him, exceeding all expectations for a Rose-less season despite having several other things go wrong. Yet they have not forgotten Rose or his importance to the team. Joakim Noah, the team's vocal leader, stood up for his teammate's decision not to play after Monday's Game 1 win over the Heat . It May Be Time for Reggie Rose to Let Derrick Rose Do the Talking (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | Derrick Rose is a big boy-- big enough to be the face of the Chicago Bulls, to have led his team to the Eastern Conference finals, and to have been named league MVP. Certainly he is big enough to speak on his own behalf. Reggie Rose is Derrick's older brother, who doubles as his manager. Understandably so, Reggie is overprotective of Derrick. He is concerned about him returning too soon and possibly shortening the length of his NBA career. There is nothing at all wrong with this. Actually, it is quite typical "big brother" behavior.

Derrick Rose is almost certainly not returning this season, which is acceptable (Ball Don't Lie)
The News It is no great secret that Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose has been medically cleared to play for quite a while as he rehabs the ACL tear he suffered in the first game of the 2012 playoffs. Despite several indications that Rose might return soon, from reporters and rappers alike , he's chosen not to due to the psychological barrier of coming back at full strength after a long layoff. That's a rare admission in a league where players push themselves beyond acceptable human limits to return from injury and often get bitterly criticized if they're seen to shy away from playing through pain. Yet, if Rose has benefited from a double standard, it's also broadly true that his choice should probably be the new standard.
The most peculiar thing about Rose's absence hasn't been his reasoning, but the fact that he has refused to make a decision on his status for the full season and playoffs. With less than a week remaining in the regular season, it would seem imprudent to attempt to integrate Rose back into the team in time for him to have an optimal impact in the playoffs.
Perhaps this lack of a timetable has not been as big of an issue for the Bulls as it might initially seem. According to a report from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune , the team is planning as if Rose will not come back until next fall's training camp:

The Indecision of Derrick Rose May Be Weighing on the Chicago Bulls (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

The News CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have had an entire season to adjust to playing without former MVP Derrick Rose, who is recovering from knee surgery.

Derrick Rose’s brother is not happy with the Chicago Bulls’ passive trade approach (Ball Don't Lie)
The News Like many teams, the Chicago Bulls stood pat at Thursday's trade deadline, avoiding a cloudy financial future in the hopes that better, less risky opportunities will come along soon. Unlike other teams, the Bulls know they'll add an All-NBA player to their lineup by the beginning of next season. Whenever Derrick Rose returns from rehabilitating the torn ACL that has kept him out of this entire season, the Bulls will regain one of the league's top players.
The timing of Rose's return is still uncertain — all we really know is that he's participating in five-on-five drills in practices and will only play in games when he thinks he's absolutely ready . From all indications, Rose and the Bulls are on the same page.
However, on Thursday, one important member of Rose's camp expressed frustration with the Bulls' inactivity on the trade market. Reggie Rose, the star's brother and a very important advisor to his career and life, thinks the Bulls haven't tried hard enough to build a champion. From Scott Powers for ESPNChicago.com :

Get Wins or Die Trying: Michael Jordan at 50 (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | The Chicago Bulls have finally moved passed the Michael Jordan era. It may have taken a while, but the team, with head coach Tom Thibodeau and superstar Derrick Rose have managed to create a separate identity and step out of the immense shadow cast by the greatness of Jordan. Still, no one who was around to witness the game of basketball during this time period can think of the Bulls without thinking of MJ. He was, and is, incomparable. ...
With Rose's status still up in air, Bulls get by (The Associated Press)
The News CHICAGO (AP) -- Given all the gasps around Chicago after Derrick Rose indicated he might not play this season, the All-Star break appears to be coming at a good time for the Bulls.
High Hopes for the Return of Derrick Rose Gradually Falling (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | Just a couple of weeks ago, the return of Derrick Rose seemed imminent. There was news of him cutting at game speed and even participating in full-contact practices for the Chicago Bulls. The consensus had become that Rose would make his season debut shortly after the NBA All-Star break. Because those festivities are scheduled to take place in just a few days, "shortly" could have been as early as next week. However, since this announcement, the outlook on his arrival has grown increasingly bleak.

Derrick Rose won’t return until he’s “110 percent,” and that’s a good idea (Ball Don't Lie)
The News A month ago, the Chicago Bulls announced that Derrick Rose, who's missed the entire season while rehabbing the ACL tear he suffered in the first game of the 2012 playoffs, was taking "predictable contact" in practices . In the time since that report, Rose has become a more active participant in practices — two weeks ago, he even started taking full contact . By all indications, he was close to returning to games.
It now appears that he might not be back quite so soon as anticipated. According to Rose, he wants to make sure that he's fully healthy before he hits the court. Or, mathematically, beyond that point. From Jeff Zillgitt for USA Today (via SLAM ):

The 10-man rotation, starring Derrick Rose in the D-League? (Ball Don't Lie)
The News A look around the league and the Web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.
C : NBA.com's Hang Time Blog . With the Chicago Bulls having been bitten by the injury bug and possibly considering making a move to add some depth, it's clear that healthy bodies are in short supply for Tom Thibodeau's team. So if, as general manager Jim Paxson has said, injured point guard Derrick Rose needs a "high volume of practices" before he can be considered ready to come back, and the big-league club doesn't have enough bodies to really accomodate that necessity, then why not send the former MVP down to the D-League for a spell? Steve Aschburner makes a pretty compelling case.
PF : BBall Breakdown . Coach Nick offers his picks for the top five power forwards in the NBA, analyzing their individual strengths and what makes them such a handful for opponents night in and night out. (Hat tip to Straight Outta Vancouver's Kevin Lipe on this one.)
SF : HoopSpeak . Josh Smith thinks he's worth a max-level contract in free agency, and whether or not you agree, it seems likely he'll be offered just that when he hits the market this summer. Kevin Draper considers how the Atlanta Hawks forward might actually make himself more worthy of the richest deal possible, and comes up with a potentially unlikely answer — by doing less.
Glass Half Full: The Bulls Have Improved in the Absence of Derrick Rose (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | The return of Derrick Rose draws ever nearer with news that he is now partaking in full-contact practices, cutting well and doing other things which signify the readiness of his knee. Finally, after what seems like an eternity, the Chicago Bulls are set to welcome back the face of the franchise. But a surprising thing happened while Rose was out, a few of them actually. Things likely to benefit the team once Rose gets back to 100% and put them in a better position than ever to compete for an NBA Championship .
NBA announces All-Star Game reserves (Ball Don't Lie)
The News One week after the announcement of the starters for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game in Houston, the league revealed the All-Star reserves during a special edition of TNT's "Inside the NBA" on Thursday night. (Additionally, many of the participants were reported by Yahoo!'s own Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears before the announcement.) As usual, the teams feature a mix of familiar faces, new blood, and surprising snubs.
The West reserves are led by San Antonio Spurs linchpins Tony Parker (fifth selection) and Tim Duncan (14th selection). They're joined by Oklahoma City Thunder dynamo Russell Westbrook (third selection), former OKC reserve and current Houston Rockets star James Harden (first selection), Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph (second selection), Golden State Warriors power forward David Lee (second selection), and Portland Trail Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge (second selection).
The East reserves are highlighted by reigning Defensive Player of the Year and New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler (first selection) and Chris Bosh (eighth selection) of the NBA champion Miami Heat. Their one-day teammates will include Indiana Pacers forward and likely Most Improved Player candidate Paul George (first selection), Philadelphia 76ers point guard Jrue Holliday (first selection), Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving (first selection), and Chicago Bulls mainstays Luol Deng (second selection) and Joakim Noah (first selection), who have helped keep the team in the thick of the playoff hunt while superstar point guard Derrick Rose works through a lengthy knee rehab .
After the jump, check out more thoughts on the selections, including the biggest snubs.
The News The Chicago Bulls have performed admirably in the first half of this season without star point guard Derrick Rose. A second straight absence from leading scorer Luol Deng also didn't affect the team too much last time out.
Hinrich, Bulls outscore Bryant, Lakers (The SportsXchange)
The News CHICAGO -- Filling in at point guard while Derrick Rose recovers from knee surgery, Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich is taking the job of distributor seriously, so much so that he scored in double figures just eight times in his first 34 games.
The Chicago Bulls’ struggles at home continue to mystify (Ball Don't Lie)
The News The Chicago Bulls enter Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks with a surprisingly poor 10-10 mark at the United Center. Big man Joakim Noah deems that mark to be “very average,” which is candid as far as athletes often go, but he’s very wrong in that dismissal.
It’s worse than average, as just six other NBA teams either boast a .500 (Sacramento) or worse (Cleveland, Orlando, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans) mark from home. You’re supposed to win a whole lotta games at home, no matter how poor your overall record is. It’s why we’re not ready to anoint the Clippers, who have played 22 of 37 games away from Los Angeles. It’s also why we’re not ready to dismiss Denver, who began the season with a disappointing 17-15 record after starting the season playing 22 of its first 32 games away from Denver.
For a lottery team, 10-10 is a crummy home record. For a 20-15 Bulls team, looking to circle the wagons in their conference while awaiting the return of Derrick Rose from knee reconstruction surgery, it’s mystifying. The team has made its delicious hay for years by out-working opponents during the regular season, so why can’t they get it together at home? Jimmy Butler, in talking with ESPN’s Nick Friedell , thinks he has the answer:
Derrick Rose is seeing ‘predictable contact,’ getting closer to return to Bulls (Ball Don't Lie)
The News The Chicago Bulls' 2012-13 season has always been divided into two parts: the periods before and after Derrick Rose returns from the ACL tear that knocked him out of the 2012 playoffs after just one game. The idea was that the Bulls would perform well enough to get themselves into position for a playoff spot, integrate Rose back into the fold in the last few months of the season, and become a squad far more dangerous than their seeding in the postseason.
[Also: Von Miller wants to become the NFL's Derrick Rose ]
So far, that plan has gone well: the Bulls are 19-14 and currently sit fifth in the not-particularly-deep East. Nevertheless, the ultimate success of the season depends on Rose's ability to return from injury. And it looks like that moment is becoming closer, because Rose is back as an occasional participant in practices — and taking some contact while doing so. From Joe Cowley for the Chicago Sun-Times (via SLAM ):
The News Nothing has come easy lately for the Miami Heat, and matchups with the Chicago Bulls have been very tough regardless of whether Derrick Rose plays.
Report: Bulls' Rose has begun practicing (The SportsXchange)
The News Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose has started participating in the team's practices, although he is not taking part in contract drills and is still a ways from playing in a game, CSNChicago.com reported.
Top 5 New Year's Resolutions for the Chicago Bulls (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News COMMENTARY | The Chicago Bulls have had a good NBA season thus far, all things considered. Without Derrick Rose, the team has managed to maintain a respectable record hovering around .500, and center Joakim Noah is playing like an All-Star. As if this were not enough, there have been recent reports that the aforementioned Rose may be nearing a return. There isn't much more one could ask of the Bulls, but there is always room for improvement. Even the best teams can get better. Here are the top five things the organization should focus on heading into 2013:
The News CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose is still sidelined and the Chicago Bulls never got to experience the playoff run they expected last spring. But they did enjoy a bit of revenge on Saturday, beating playoff foe Philadelphia 93-88 at the United Center.
The Milwaukee Bucks have run out to a hot start despite Ersan Ilyasova’s struggles (Ball Don't Lie)
The News It probably isn't a smart assertion to ask you to pay attention, quickly, to the Milwaukee Bucks' division-leading start. It's true that the team has made its hay with a series of wins against lottery types in the East, plus two impressive wins over the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers, but with those Pacers struggling and the Chicago Bulls still trying to find their way without Derrick Rose, it is more than conceivable that the Bucks could stick to the top of the Central division standings for a few more weeks if not months.
And in stark contrast to coach Scott Skiles' reputation as a stern taskmaster when it comes to tossing out play calls or minutes to those that don't exactly keep up on the defensive end, the Bucks are making their way by pushing the rock to ridiculous levels. The Racine Journal-Times' Gary Woelfel is amongst the few (c'mon; you haven't been watching many Bucks games) to have noticed:
Ever since Scott Skiles became the Milwaukee Bucks head coach, he has insisted that he's wanted his team to push the ball as often as it could.
In those four-plus seasons, though, the Bucks seldom looked to get into the open court. Instead, they were primarily a half-court, run-the-shot-clock down type of team. In other words, hardly a fun team to watch from a fan's perspective.
The Bucks actually haven't deployed a frenetic, up-tempo offense since Terry Stotts was at the helm during the 2005-2006 season. That's when the Bucks constantly ran. During that season, in back-to-back games, the Bucks had games of 125 and 132 points.
Completely and totally true, assuming you ignore a few things.
Long, Strange Season for Bulls (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News Even without Derrick Rose in the lineup, the Chicago Bulls will win more than 50 percent of their games this season. Not a lot more than 50 percent, but enough to be able to declare themselves winners.
Robinson sparks Bulls to win over Timberwolves (The Associated Press)
The News CHICAGO (AP) -- With the Chicago Bulls missing star Derrick Rose and two starters going without a basket, the team's revamped bench came through just like the old version did so many times over the last couple of years.
The News Nov 6 (Reuters) - The Chicago Bulls dominated the start of the fourth quarter to beat the Orlando Magic 99-93 on Tuesday in a matchup of two teams trying to adjust to playing without last season's All Stars. Luol Deng scored eight of his team-high 23 in the fourth quarter where reserve Nate Robinson also provided a spark to quickly erase a three-point deficit and take the game by the horns. The Bulls were able to improve to 3-1 this season where they are without 2010-11 MVP Derrick Rose, sidelined indefinitely after tearing knee ligaments during last season's playoffs. ...
The News The Chicago Bulls are confident they can succeed while Derrick Rose recovers from a knee injury. With or without their superstar, the Bulls have fared extremely well against the Cleveland Cavaliers of late.
Noah leads Bulls past Kings, 93-87 (The Associated Press)
The News CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Bulls insist they can be more than just a run-of-the-mill team without Derrick Rose. They're off to a winning start.
The News While many have been quick to dismiss the Chicago Bulls with Derrick Rose sidelined, coach Tom Thibodeau's team is eager to prove its doubters wrong.

The News CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Bulls insist they shouldn't be written off this season just because Derrick Rose is recovering from a torn ALC in his left knee.
Chicago Bulls Not Sharp in Pair of Preseason Losses: A Fan’s View (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News OK, Chicago Bulls fans, it's not time to panic. Not yet anyway. But one thing is clear: The Bulls won't be winning three of every four games this season like we've grown accustomed to, and there are going to be some frustrations between here and there (there being Derrick Rose's return).
Get ready to bid on Michael Jordan’s (expired) American Express card (Ball Don't Lie)
The News What would you pay for an American Express card signed by Michael Jordan that expired seven years ago but very well may have been used to purchase everything required to start a superbike racing company , or at the very least more cigars than is advisable to smoke? I know this sounds like a Zen koan or an inscrutable riddle, but it's a question you can actually literally answer on Oct. 10, when Goldin Auctions puts the Hall of Famer's past-date plastic up for bid as part of the West Berlin, N.J.-based company's inaugural fall auction.
I mean, you can answer it so long as the answer is, "More than $1,000," which is the listed opening bid for the card. But I think we were all expecting that. After all, an MJ-signed '97-'98 Bulls season ticket will run you $20,000, and that never even got used to buy the DVDs of all six seasons of "Sanford and Son," which is Michael's favorite TV show, according to the reputable website 23 Michael Jordan Facts . This feels like a much more historic treasure, and for a significantly lesser price. Personally, though, I'm holding out a few years, because I figure an MJ credit card that expired somewhere around 2011 had to have been used to pay a portion of Matt Carroll's salary, right?
[Also: Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose breaks down in tears while discussing injury rehab ]
If having yet another credit card you can't/shouldn't use isn't your brand of vodka, you can still get your MJ bidding on by throwing your hat into the ring for a home white Bulls jersey that Jordan reportedly wore during Chicago's legendary 72-10 1995-96 season. That one'll kick off at $2,500, but at least you'll probably get some Jordan sweat in the bargain, and with what science can do nowadays, who knows how many clones you can make?
Other items up for bid in the October auction will reportedly include a game ball signed by the 1934 New York Yankees and a 1986 New York Mets World Series ring, as well as ho-hum stuff like a Civil War military appointment signed in 1864 by President Abraham Lincoln. Wonder what sap'll go in for that .

The News Rose says his surgically repaired left knee is getting better and he is even jumping on it.
Our View The Chicago Bulls' superstar started doing that ``a couple of days ago,'' another step in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He is rehabilitating five days a week in an effort to return sometime this season after a devastating injury. Rose spoke Thursday at an unveiling of his new shoe and apparel line for Adidas. The 35-minute session was moderated by a company executive, and he did not take questions from the media.

Nice to see you again, Derrick Rose (VIDEO) (Ball Don't Lie)
The News On some level, I know this is ostensibly just an advertisement for adidas. It's a video released through adidas Basketball's YouTube channel , prominently featuring multiple shots of those signature stripes and culminating with the company's logo. The bottom line of any spot like this is to make you think that what you should do is buy the sponsor's product; I get that.
And in this case, I don't really care.
Seeing Derrick Rose — the youngest player ever to be named the NBA's Most Valuable Player, the Chicago Bulls' centerpiece star and one of the most exciting point guards in the world — back on his feet, working hard as he rehabilitates from the catastrophic anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered during the first game of the Bulls' opening-round postseason series against the Philadelphia 76ers in an effort to make good on his promise to fans to "be all right" and get back out on the court as soon as is reasonably possible, did my heart good. And while they'll need to curb their enthusiasm just a bit — remember, as KD wrote in discussing Tim Hardaway's claims about D-Rose developing his jump shot , "as soon as is reasonably possible" is going to be a good long while — I'm pretty sure it did Bulls fans' hearts good. Hell, it did all our hearts good.
It was nice of you to say you're "all in" there at the end, Derrick, but it's unlikely anyone doubted that too much beforehand as it was. Get well soon, kid. While we wait, we're going to run the tape back one more time, focusing more on the last 45 seconds than on the first 15. We've seen enough of that to last a lifetime.

NBA jerseys will have sponsors soon, and we’re here to help (Ball Don't Lie)
The News Way back in March, BDL's Kelly Dwyer wrote a post detailing the NBA's interest in putting advertisements on their teams' jerseys . He spoke for all of us here in noting that the idea is crass and distasteful to anyone more focused on the sport of basketball itself than on the bottom lines of multinational conglomerates and their partners within the league. Sadly, jersey sponsorships are very much a step in the continued businessification of the sports world, and the time to make a meaningful stand against the movement was probably 20 years ago when every arena in the world traded its municipal name for that of a corporation. Some battles are lost well before they begin.
It is now time to get even more used to the idea of ads on jerseys, because it could be only a season or two away. At a meeting of the NBA's Board of Governors on Thursday, the owners discussed how best to implement these sponsorships. After the meeting, deputy commissioner Adam Silver gave a sense of their plans at a press conference. From Ken Berger of CBSSports.com :
Bulls' Bench Taking a Hit This Off-Season: A Fan's Perspective (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The News Despite a disappointing end to the past two seasons, one of the advantages the Chicago Bulls had over other teams was the play of their second unit, a group often referred to as the "Bench Mob". Not only did the unit do a solid job in regards to production, they were a group of guys who played multiple roles for the team as well. For instance, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Watson all played in the starting lineup in various stretches of the past season because of injuries to Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Rip Hamilton. ...
