Detroit Shock sold to Tulsa Oklahoma

I just received information that Mrs. Davidson is cutting her losses and has sold the team to Tulsa Oklahoma.  All the coaches and staff are losing their jobs.  Purely a business decision.

Wow.

That's pretty sad, if true.

They're one of the best franchises in the league's history, yet, we decided to not go forth with it because of a lack of interest or what not.

Damn.

I feel bad I didn't make it out to a game this year now. I wanted to hit a playoff game, but I was too broke to even pay the damn $3 service charge for a FREE ticket.

If this is true, people who work at The Palace didn't know about it yesterday when I talked to them. Not people who work in the box office or at the concession stand either.

How legit are you with this, or not you Ryan, but who told you this?

I was told by a person who works for the Shock and Palace Entertainment.  She's losing her job...found out yesterday morning.  Mrs Davidson is losing millions on Guardian with the economy.  She made a business decision to sell the Shock to stop the bleeding.

It's true, I'm surprised something has leaked out yet.  It's not public information yet.  I've been refreshing mlive.com a few times per day to see when they break the story.  Maybe I should email Sherrod.

What  the  hell  difference  does  it  make?  Half  of  the  clowns  on  this  board  didnt  appreciate  what  the  Shock  did  anyway.

Yeah, not a fan of the Shock.  I only even remotely cared about them because of Laimbeer and Mahorn.

This article is wrong.  It's a done deal

Nice work Ryan, you nailed that one early. Like I said, people I got in touch with hadn't heard anything. I didn't want to have my buddy text the people who worked directly for the Shock just cause we didn't want to be the ones to break the news of them losing their jobs, if that would've been the case. We texted some other dude that worked around the organization, but he had no idea what we were talking about.

I appreciated the Shock, and it's a bummer if this team is leaving Auburn Hills. They've been a great franchise and it just stinks that it's so difficult to get people interested in women's basketball.

When I read that article, I was kind of in shock (no pun) that the team has already been around for 12 years.

Man  yall  swear  yall  have  Palace  connections  lol.  I  bet  the  next  thing  would  be  to  text  Deanna Nolan  or  Katie Smith  personally  and  ask  them  whats  going  on.  That  should  be  the  next  move  huh  lol.  smh

Women's Basketball

Women's basketball is actually good. When I was watching Indiana vs. Phoenix in the finals, I was like yeah, these girls are hustling. They werent just sitting there, being soft, playing "girly" ball. If that were the case, I could understand why people dont watch it.

Women's basketball will NEVER attract people and make the money that the NBA does, but the WNBA is pretty good.

I watched some of the Shock's games (never been to one). But I do appreciate the 3 titles they provided in their 12 year stint.

Too bad they are moving. The economy sucks, bad. People keep saying its getting better, but I cant tell.
