Continues steady production in win
Black closed Saturday's 128-127 overtime win over the Jazz with 20 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-8 FT), six rebounds and five assists over 40 minutes.

The Scoop: Jalen Suggs' (hip) absence has allowed Black to log four consecutive starts, and his standout production might summon an adjustment in the rotation upon Suggs' return. Franz Wagner's return is still at least a week away, so the team could conceivably run with Suggs and Black in the backcourt and shift Desmond Bane to the wing, a position where he is usually comfortable.

Logs 28 minutes with thin rotation
Caldwell-Pope ended with 11 points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, five assists and one steal across 28 minutes during Saturday's 130-122 loss to the Wizards.

The Scoop: The Grizzlies were short-handed with only nine players, so Caldwell-Pope had an enhanced role in the loss. The veteran logged a double-digit scoring total for the 12th time this season, but his secondary numbers were slightly below his usual totals. Caldwell-Pope entered Saturday's game averaging 7.6 points, 3.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 steals across 27 games.

Ineffective in return to action
Middleton finished with six points (1-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals across 22 minutes during Saturday's 130-122 win over the Grizzlies.

The Scoop: Although Middleton was cleared to play after a four-game absence, his minutes were limited, and he failed to find his shooting stroke in his first game back. He converted only one of his nine shot attempts but was able to partly salvage his total with adequate secondary numbers. It may take a couple of games for Middleton to right the ship, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit during the back-to-back Sunday against the Spurs.

Records seventh double-double
Sarr closed Saturday's 130-122 victory over the Grizzlies with 18 points (8-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 11 rebounds, two assists and one block in 26 minutes.

The Scoop: The Grizzlies lost Brandon Clarke (calf) early in the contest, and Sarr was able to take advantage of the gap opposite an overworked Jaren Jackson. Although Jock Landale stepped in to cover the absence, he had limited success while the Wizards worked their way back from a massive deficit. Sarr showed no ill effects from the thigh injury that sidelined him for six games, although he may take a seat for injury management Sunday, which is the tail end of the back-to-back.

Spurs late rally in victory
McCollum totaled 28 points (9-16 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds and six assists over 39 minutes during Saturday's 130-122 victory over the Grizzlies.

The Scoop: McCollum and Kyshawn George were brilliant down the stretch for the Wizards, who were facing a massive deficit at halftime but were able to close the gap thanks to the dynamic duo. McCollum experienced a slight scoring dip this week against the Kings and Pacers, but he bounced back to the high-scoring ways he enjoyed earlier in the month. Coming into Saturday's game, McCollum was averaging 20.6 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals during the month of December.

Strong line in loss
Booker produced 38 points (13-27 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 10-12 FT), five assists, one rebound, three steals and two blocks in 38 minutes of Saturday's 119-116 loss to Golden State.

The Scoop: Booker's heroics weren't quite enough as the Suns dropped to 15-13 on the season. Through 25 regular-season appearances, Booker is shooting 45.7 percent from the field with averages of 25.6 points, 6.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.7 three-pointers.

Won't return Saturday
Zubac will not return to Saturday's game against the Lakers due to a left ankle injury, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

The Scoop: Zubac rolled his left ankle, and while he was able to walk off the court under his own power, he was sporting a serious limp as he went back to the locker room. For now, Zubac should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Rockets, and if he needs to miss time, that would benefit John Collins and Brook Lopez.

Limited to nine points Saturday
Huff closed with nine points (3-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 21 minutes during Saturday's 128-109 loss to New Orleans.

The Scoop: Huff didn't have his best performance in this contest, though to be fair, the Pacers' frontcourt struggled mightily all game, except for Pascal Siakam (22 points, 6-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-11 FT). Huff has been making his presence felt on defense, though, as he's recorded multiple blocks in each of his last 14 regular-season appearances.

Pours in 28 points
George logged 28 points (10-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven assists, seven rebounds, one steal and one block in 39 minutes of Saturday's 130-122 win over the Grizzlies.

The Scoop: The Wizards were down by 20 points at one point in the second quarter, only to respond with a massive rally after halftime. George continues to excel for the Wizards, and over his last four games, he's been a top-60 player in nine-category formats with 15.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.3 blocks and 2.0 three-pointers.

Comes close to double-double
McConnell ended Saturday's 128-109 loss to the Pelicans with 16 points (8-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 18 minutes.

The Scoop: McConnell made the most of his minutes off the bench, missing just two shots overall and ending just two assists away from a double-double. The veteran signal-caller scored in double digits coming off the bench for the ninth time this season, and the eight assists tied his season-high output. McConnell should remain a steady presence off the bench, but his second-unit role limits his fantasy upside considerably.
